Our NYC Favorites
We decided to have our wedding in our home town of NYC because we love the lives our little midwest asses have created here, and love sharing this city with our friends and families. And while this doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface, hopefully as you are planning some time here, these can begin to point you in a direction we hope you will enjoy.
Performace

The Slipper Room – Burlesque – Lower East Side
The Slipper Room has been Chris’s unofficial burlesque home in NYC, and is where the wedding will be taking the stage. This burlesque mainstay has hosted many a loved one on it’s rhinestone-strewn boards. Shows every night!

Met Opera – Upper West
Getcha some high-falutin cultcha’ while you’re here! Even if you don’t catch an opera, the Lincoln Center is a gorgeous cultural center with dance, theater, music… and is right across from Central Park (and a few blocks down from the Natural History Museum… have you seen the dinosaurs?).

Coney Island
Coney Island is home to the famous Circus Sideshow, the historical boardwalk, the Mermaid Parade (only a few days after our wedding!), Luna Park, and a just a bucket or two of hopes and dreams.
Museums

MoMA – Midtown
The Museum of Modern Art is a must-see for all of your modern favorites. 6th floor restaurant is great cocktails. And sculpture garden is a haven.

The Whitney Museum – West Village
Amazing art right in the West Village, great place to start or end a walk along The High Line. Nearby: Little Island and The Chelsea Market.
Broadway
If you’ve talked Broadway with us, we have probably mentioned one, if not all of these amazing shows. It was probably Fil. And you didn’t ask…
If you’re booking tickets for theatre, be sure to check out discount tickets at TDF / TKTS websites and booths and on TodayTix.
Bars / Restaurants

Julius’ Bar – West Village
One of the oldest gay bars in NYC, this is also the place that Chris and Fil said, “I love you” and later Chris proposed to Fil. ❤️
Dive bar vibes with an amazing grill. **CASH ONLY** Around the corner from The Stonewall Inn and National Park.

SuperPollo – Ridgewood
The chicken truly is super. As is the pork. And the condiments. Early date spot for us, and a regular go-to.

5 Napkin Burger – Hell’s Kitchen
Our go-to for post-Broadway meal. Open late, sit at the bar, late night happy hour for drinks and food.

Julia’s – Ridgewood
This little restaurant is just around the corner from home, and one of our brunch regulars. If we’ve gone with you, you know the patas bravas are just worth a second round…
